Artist needed immediately to help restore the Miles of Mules Mascot
The Miles of Mules project that was launched several years ago was a wonderful opportunity to blend our local history with public art displays. Several of our ACE members participated in the project at the time.
Well, they need your help again, this time to help restore “Mulegellan”, the mule from Two Rivers Landing, before they take him out on tour. Compensation will be provided for the work.
According to Rayne Schnabel:
We have decided to take “Mulegellan” the D&L mule from the successful “Miles of Mules, History With a Colorful Kick” public art public, out on tour. He has become our mascot and has already attended three events! His years “stabled” at Two Rivers Landing have taken it toll on his “coat” and he is in dire need of a touch-up.
I am longing for someone to give him a new “coat”, the paint is gone in some places and he is scheduled to be out and about in the near future. We are interested in keeping the historic “flavor” of the mule. As our mascot—he is our moving map of the Corridor. Mulegellan represents the Lehigh and Delaware Canals as well as the cities, towns and communities. He did receive a touch up years ago (his hat is now green), but as mentioned before the artist that painted him is no longer with “The Theme Factory”.
Mulegellan is stabled at the Emrick Technology Center in Hugh Moore Park—second floor--if anyone would want to stop by and see him.
Volunteers, Artwork needed for the Movies At the Mill September 25th
Help also needed for setup and cleanup on the 24th and 26th
Once more, the City of Easton is hosting a night of films under the stars at the site of the 13th Street Silk Mill in Easton.
Six films will be screened, great food from the best local vendors will be sold, and a special VIP after party will be held showcasing local artists in Building #6 on the site.
This is an opportunity for local artists to display some of their work during the VIP party. The interior of Building #6 is a large space that is being transformed for the event, but is currently undecorated. More information on the space is available on request. If you would like to display your art, contact us immediately. Final decisions on the exhibition will be made by the Movies at the Mill committee. They will also need help laying out and hanging the artwork.
Volunteers are needed to help set up, run the event, and cleanup afterward. A total of around 40 volunteers is needed.
While the admittance to the event is for age 21 and over, volunteers can be 18 and over. This will give an opportunity for college students and young film students to be a part of the event.
Here's the details from Hillary Weiss.
I am excited about the event and we are looking for volunteers for the following dates and times:
Friday, September 24th between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm - Set-up
Saturday, September 25th (day of the event) between 5:00 pm and 3:00 am – All areas (ticket collection, food tickets, tee shirt tickets, greeters)
Sunday, September 26th 9:00 till noon - Clean-up
Unlike last year, we are allowing volunteers under the age of 21 to assist (18 years or older). Special “Staff” tee-shirt will be given to the volunteer. Also, volunteers do not have to assist the entire time on Friday & Saturday - first or second shift would be fine. www.moviesatthemill.com

Call for volunteers and contributors for the ACE Annual Awards Dinner
Greetings ACE Members,
Hard to believe it is still 90 degree weather and I am here planning the ACE Annual Dinner for December 5, 2010.
At the ACE dinner we present the annual ACE scholarship and awards for the Artist of the Year and Patron of the Year.
This year we hope to expand the event, to create some fun and raise some funds. We would like to increase attendance to include both ACE members and art lovers in the community.
As in every event there is the need for membership participation to pull it off.
Please take the time to read below and see where you may help and support this event.
This year we are adding an art auction. The auction will raise funds for the ACE Scholarship Fund, raise attendance and give our community the chance to purchase affordable art donated by the membership.
It’s a good time to go through and release some art chi from your studios. We are looking for small, affordable pieces. On request, we will issue donation invoices for your tax records.
We are also looking to add entertainment throughout the evening. Short performances, live music and short film donations would be greatly appreciated. As the event draws near, we will also need people to help sell tickets to the dinner.
ACE Board recently voted to join the Lehigh Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau /Discover Lehigh Valley, so this event will be listed on their website, www.lehighvalleypa.org as well as on our ACE site, www.eastonart.org.
And hopefully our budget will allow us to purchase postcards advertising the event.
Please remember that are events are only as strong as our membership. I am sure your involvement will make this event a fun evening, and will be an important positive contribution to our community and beyond.

Wally Barnette - From The Beginning - August 13 - September 19, 2010.
Wally Barnette - From The Beginning - August 13 - September 19, 2010.
Opening Reception Saturday August 14th at 7:00 PM at Connexions Gallery in Easton, PA.
"The mediums used to create my work are as varied as the subject matter. I do not necessarily know in advance if the end result will be sculptural or 2 dimensional. It is dependant upon whether the inspiration was from a physical object or a thought. As I have become more accustomed to working in this manner I find that I give more examination to the inspiration until a clear definition emerges before moving on to the execution of the final art work." - Wally Barnette
Watercolors, Assemblages, and Monotypes as in the examples above, are but a sampling of the varied dimensions in Wally's art created from how he viewed the world around him. Foliage and flowers around his beloved Hunt House, boxes and balls he found in flea markets or created himself, as well as the human form displayed in unexpected ways are all interpretations of Wally's World. We hope you will be able to join us at Connexions Gallery in Easton, PA for "Wally Barnette - From The Beginning" for the opportunity to purchase any of these pieces of fine art and over a hundred other pieces of oil paintings, monotypes, sketches, pottery, assemblages, oil sticks, pencil drawings, and several truly surprising pieces.

Marya/ The Museum of Ethnography 2009-2010 exhibition
BEYOND MOTHER TONGUE: A DAUGHTER’S AWAKENING
THE MUSEUM OF ETHNOGRAPHY presents its 11th exhibition entitled BEYOND MOTHER TONGUE: A DAUGHTER’S AWAKENING, running from October 17, 2009 through June 30, 2010. The OPENING RECEPTION will be held on Sat. October 17, 6-9pm. The multimedia installation portrays the story of the daughter (Marya) who witnesses the passage of a parent through the purgatory of the advanced dementia of Alzheimer’s. Memories erupt into an archaeological investigation replete with ancestral altarpieces, memento mori reliquaries honoring a life of ninety years. Accompanying the museum show is a video of taped performances filmed in the lava fields of Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii. While autobiographical, the video and exhibition convey the universal story of all people living with or affected by the insidious disease of Alzheimer’s.
