Thanks again to everyone that attended “Wally Barnette’s - The Last Show” at Gallery 31 North this past November. That show was created specifically by Wally as his articulation of the cancer that was consuming him and the mortality that we all must face.
Now, almost a year later, Connexions Gallery in Easton, PA is giving us the opportunity to celebrate the creative lifetime of our beloved Wally. From August 13 – Sept 19, 2010 please join us for the “Wally Barnette Retrospective - From the Beginning.”
This exposition and sale will include some of Wally’s earliest sketches and drawings, through his more abstract period, portraits, paintings, monotypes, assemblages, and pottery.
More information and reminders of the show will be coming in the following weeks including details of the opening reception and more pictures of artwork to be included in the event. We hope you will be able to join us for this momentous occasion.
Susan Roseman / Bob Craig - "Inked Up"
May 21st through July 4th
Opening Reception- Saturday May 22nd- 7-10PM
Artist Talk- Sunday June 13th Beginning at 2PM
The process of relief printmaking has always been special to artist Bob Craig. The almost sculptural quality of cutting a block is a sublime characteristic unparalleled in printmaking. Although not one to wax endlessly about types of wood or linoleum, paper or inks, the act of relief printmaking remains the fertile artist North Star and creative pole which grounds printmaker Bob Craig. Throughout the past several years, Bob Craig has given us images of political relevance and has reminded us of the fading landscapes that have given way to development.
Artist and printmaker Susan Roseman shares Bob Craig's passion and love for this medium. Her work is artistically rich and her designs crisp, beautiful and stunning in their simplicity. It is an inevitable thought process of course for some to compare two artists who work in the same medium, to overlook their individual qualities, but Susan and Bob share the same process and not always the same sensibility. While the tools and materials are the same, the outcomes are vastly different.
We hope the viewer will see their similarities and differences and enjoys the subtle personal qualities they inject into this one and deeply traditional art form. Most of all, we hope that the special connection they feel towards each other as printmakers and to relief printmaking, comes through in the work they have chosen to share with us at Connexions.
