As many of you know Connexions Gallery sponsors an ACE Show Annually. This year, we are hosting our show a bit earlier in order to celebrate the women of ACE during March, International Women's Month. Jenn Semm from Home And Planet in Bethlehem will be assisting us as guest curator and juror for the show.
The purpose of Women's History Month is to increase the consciousness and knowledge of women's history. Connexions views this as an opportunity to introduce the many diverse and fabulous women of ACE to the community once again. The women that we have worked with throughout the years have left a lasting impact on both the casual viewer and the steady patron. As we all know, Art has the power to move, shape, change and affect the world we live in and we believe that this show will enable us to celebrate the strength and creative vibrance of the many diverse voices within the women who are a part of ACE.
The theme for this years international celebration is one that is in line with the Green Movement- celebrating women who take the lead in saving the planet. We encourage participants in this years show to submit pieces that represent their voice as women, as artists and as individuals conscious of the world around us. These pieces may contain elements that are reclaimed from other sources, but this is not a necessary requirement. Collage, mosaic, painting, fiber arts and sculptural works are all acceptable. We just ask that nothing submitted present a safety risk to the viewer due to scale. Those wishing to participate must be current members of ACE ( keep in mind that January is the month to renew your dues. ) and may submit up to three pieces for consideration.
Connexions Gallery will not be accepting work that has been previously shown in ACE shows. In addition, work must be presented in a professional manner with attention given to the quality of matting and framing where applicable. Last, the work must be ready to hang with appropriate hardware and wiring present. There will be no hang fee. Anyone who is not currently a member of ACE who wishes to participate may go to the ACE website- eastonart.org to download a membership application.
